History:
The land (5 acres) for the cemetery was donated by William Henry Hart but was not ready for use when he died on 12 Feb. 1861. He was buried at the Hart Herrington Cemetery on Hwy 420 which is about one mile north of Woodard Rd. The cemetery has been maintained and supported for the past 148 years through the hard work, donations and dedication of the descendents of William Henry Hart and their families. In 1965 the William Hart Cemetery Assn. was formed under the leadership of Andrew Bevil a great grandson of William Henry Hart to supervise the management of the cemetery and to collect donations for maintenance of the cemetery.
Curently:
The cemetery is being expanded into the unused portion of the 5 acres. We have workdays on the last Saturday of the month.
